Download local files spotify greyed out
Same issue no matter what I do. Very frustrating to pay for premium when a good portion of my tracks are now unplayable on my phone, which is where I listen to the majority of my music. No matter how many times I delete the program, delete the apps, and resync the playlist, only the spotify tracks sync.
The local songs on my computer show up on my playlist on the iphone but they're greyed out, won't play, and always give me this message when I try to play them. My devices are on the same wifi but nothing happens for these tracks.
I don't understand how Spotify can advertise this feature but it does not seem to work for anyone. I understand the feeling it's so annoying. After months and months of putting off streaming I finally subscribed to Apple Music only for it to completely mess up my local library. I disabled the service and switched to Spotify after recommendations from friends who assured me I wouldn't have the same issues.
Now I'm a Spotify premium user whose local files are greyed out and both song titles and artwork are wrong for so many tracks. Why isn't there a music service which can simply respect a user's library and mirror it exactly as it is on our devices? Go to solution. All forum topics Previous Topic Next Topic.
Everyone's tags 2 : local files. Labels: Labels: Windows. Accepted Solutions. Gig Goer. Community Legend. The grey means that track wasn't linked to the corresponding track if it exists in the Spotify catalogue. You need to sync those local files over to your mobile devices by connecting to the same WiFi network then marking the playlist as available offline and it should sync them from your desktop. Hi, I'm having the exact same problem. Any ideas? After sync appears on same playlist but greyed out and won't play.
Have tried: Reinstalling Spotify on my phone. Confirming phone is connected to my account. Moving and renaming local files folder. Thank you, Laura. I've done every method mentioned in the forums by both Spotify users and admin enable sync, show downloads, connect to the same wifi network, delete and redownload apps on both devices, download playlist with local files songs in them, make sure the files are MP3s, etc.
Click the file you want to download to start the download process. So when it came to listening to songs on Spotify mobile, either I had to stick to what was available or open the stock music player to play the songs that are saved in the internal SD card.
I was desperately looking for a way to sync local music files to a mobile device in a way Spotify would recognize and play them. After spending some time on the app and online forums I found a way to accomplish the task.
They didn't show up in my local files folder, so I changed the source of the local files, thinking that was the issue. The ones in my playlists still are all greyed out, and when I try to add them to my queue, Spotify says that I have to import them even though I can literally play the songs through the local files tab? I haven't downloaded illegally, and some of my older local files still work.
It might not be too big of an issue, but I just feel like this is becoming quite annoying, and even after searching online I came up with no proper solution. All I want to do is link up the local files from my playlists with the files on my computer, so that I ideally don't have to keep removing my songs and replacing them.
Any help is appreciated. And if I'm being honest, I don't understand why local files are still so badly done. There are so many bugs and issues, like the fact that I literally cannot import from more than one source, or the whole slew of problems on your forums that never seem to be solved.
Why do users have to download their own codecs for an application that they are paying for? Of course, I'm not Mr. Spotify, but if he really does exist, my suggestion would be this: maybe get a few more programmers to stop mulling over the fancy auto-generated playlists and wraps from complex sorting algorithms and instead make them fix bugs that haven't been solved for nearly half a decade.
Some lucky users solve this problem by simply restarting their devices but the majority of the users feel quite confused by it. Therefore, we conclude a typical problem that users may encounter and offer some solutions.
